Over the Easter weekend, a lone Grey Whale passed away and washed up on the shores of East Sooke Park, about 30 minutes west of Victoria, BC. Locals said the whale had been in Beecher Bay for the last couple of days just milling around. I believe it passed away at some point Friday. We had a massive wind storm that night and I think it got pushed onto the beach then. There were dozens of families and people taking pictures of this awesome creature.

VICTORIA – Police officers from Victoria and Esquimalt donated their time on Wednesday to accompany a group of students while they did their Christmas shopping. 21 students were selected to take part in the 2nd annual Cop Shop program at Hillside Centre. Victoria Police Liaison officers chose students who showed leadership in their schools and in the community throughout the year. Each student was given a $200 gift card to buy gifts for their families and themselves. Michele Paget with Hillside Centre says Cop Shop is about building bridges and its a way for students to see police officers as people.
