There is lots to do on Vancouver Island such as whale watching, kayaking, hiking, sightseeing, etc. For more information on Vancouver Island, go to http://www.vancouverisland.com.

To get to Vancouver Island from Vancouver, without a car, you would need to catch a bus to the ferries at either Tsawwassen or Horseshoe Bay. You can either catch a transit bus to the ferry for a reasonable price ($2.50 – $5.00 depending on where your starting point is). Then, you would need to catch another bus on the Island, Or, you can take Pacific Coach Lines from near Downtown Vancouver to Downtown Victoria (the same bus goes on the ferry). This will cost about $43 one way, $84 return. Check the websites below for more information.

You can’t drive to Vancouver Island anyways.

There are buses that will take you to the ferries and you can walk on.

Amazon 17 has a good answer.
If you catch the bus to downtown Victor you can walk anywhere you want, its all relatively close. For adventure there are boats at the marina offering whale watching tours and wild life viewing.
